found your MacLennans in the 1881 Canadian censaus in New Campbellton, Victoria County, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia....i used James with John as head of household....found it at
www.familysearch.com in Canadian census.....there are a lot of Stubberts in the Brookside Cemetery of Sydney Mines at the Cpae Breton Genweb site....the 1901 Canadian census is online but not indexed - if you need tips on searching through it, let me know....btw, the next household to your MacLennans in 1881 is another MacLennan family - may or may not be related to yours, but worth checking out
