Lochcarron Maclennans
I am looking for a Hector Maclennan that emegrated to Australia, worked in the police their and came back to Lochcarron.Must have done wellm in the police, as he came back to Lochcarron quite well off, "compared to the rest of the family".
(My father told me quite a humerous story about him) By the time he came back from Australia he had gone a bit "Mad", he wallpapered one wall of the living room with five pound notes, which were about 6 inches square in those days!!, he was then sent to a sanitarium in Aberdeen where he lived out the rest of his life. I know that he died around 1972 (as that was the year that I joined the Army, and I went to the funeral in Lochcarron with my Father and Mother.
My Father says that some of the Brothers names were John, Farquar and George (Married Catherine Mary Mackenzie).
George Maclennan moved to Inverness and worked as a Gardener at Howdens, had a Heart Attack while working their and wanted to move back to Lochcarron to spend the rest of his life, he died in 1939 in Lochcarron.
His oldest son Simon who was in the Territorial Army prior to the war went to jion the Seaforth Highlanders at the outbreak of war in 1939 (must have been just after his Father died, hewas taken prisoner in France and was released and came back home a broken man (Shellshocked).
If anyone recognises any of the info given here please get in touch and see what we can share.
Regards George Alexander Maclennan b.24 Aug 1957.
