Hi LaRee,
I, too, am trying to find family from Inverness and coming to Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and into Maine.
So far, I have not been able to establish a link back to Scotland, other than knowing an ancestor, Donald MacLennan/McLennan, came from Inverness, and came over
to Canada, perhaps Nova Scotia and News Brunswick, before heading into what would become Maine. There he had a son, James, who would later marry a Jane Findlay, also born in Maine, who's father, Douglas Findlay, came over from Aberdeen.
They would eventually have four sons, James, John, George and David.I don't know about any daughters.John was born in Ft Fairfield area in 1853.And he is my grandfather. My grandfather told us his father, James was a cousin to Big Rory McLennan of Ontario fame.
I am interested in anything more you may have uncovered regarding this family. While you are interested in William, I am interested in son, Donald, born Jan 27, 1741, Inverness...correct?
You're right, many of the McLennans seemed to end up in Ontario...but there were several, I believe that came thru Nova Scotia and New Brunswick.I am trying to find the Donald McLennan that continued on into Maine.
Can you give me any help?
