Eva M. Mai, 83, of Brownsville, Ore., formerly of Eau Claire, passed away Sunday, Aug. 24, 2008, at Lebanon Care Center in Lebanon, Ore
She was born on June 23, 1925, in Minneapolis to Henry and Anna (Brown) Baldwin. She grew up and attended school in Fairchild. Eva married Alvin Mai and settled in Eau Claire. Alvin passed away in 1992. In 2000, Eva moved to Brownsville, Ore., to live with her son, Lyle. She enjoyed painting, bowling, golf and all sports.
Eva is survived by her son, Lyle Mai; daughters, Jane (Denny) Schutz and Rose (Wayne) Grosskopf; daughter-in-law, Deb Mai; stepdaughters, Kate (Harold) Rubesch, Geraldine (Alvin) Erdman, Marilyn (Jacob) McQuiston and Joan Mai; stepdaughter-in-law, Ina Mai; brother, Clarence Baldwin; sister, Ruth Beauchamp; sisters-in-law, Mildred Mai and Geraldine Henning; many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; other loving relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin; parents, Henry and Anna; son, Richard Mai; stepson, Alvin Mai Jr.; brothers, Benjamin and Robert; and a sister, Gladys.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 30, 2008, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Highland Avenue in Eau Claire, with Pastor Karen Hofstad officiating. Interment will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 29, 2008, at Stokes, Prock and Mundt Funeral Chapel in Altoona and on Saturday at the church one hour prior to the service.
