note: Alex, Cuff, Francis live in the slave-owner's home: Dr. Richard and Christiana (English) Maiben. It is unknown if they are Frank and Louisa Maiben's children? That is why there are more than seven children listed.Harry Maiben is a guess also, but I have his family genealogy and think he belongs in our portion.George (my ancestor), Jesse, and Abidine Maiben live in the house identified as sons of Frank and Louisa Maiben on the 1880 US Census, Finchburg, Monroe, Alabama, USA. And, Finally, Charles "Charley" Lott Maiben was said to be Frank and Louisa Maiben son as stated by a 2 Maiben researchers - one a descendant of Harry Maiben.
Finchburg, Monroe, Alabama, USA was located in the area of Finchburg Road and Wainwright Road. However in 2009, the area iincludes portions of Lock and Dam Road, Maiben Lake Road and Isaac Creek Road.
There is a Maiben Cemetery, Finchburg, Monroe, Alabama, USA where slave-owner Dr. Richard and Christiana Alexander (English) MAIBEN and their children are buried along with 4 indentifiable slave graves but I have been told there are obvious signs of other unmarked graves.Slaves: 1.Rena Marshall died June 10, 1885 Age 44 years Gone Home To Rest [born abt 1841], 2.Jennie Maiben Died Oct. 11, 1891 Age 83 YEARS GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN [born abt 1808], 3.James Penn Died Age 66 YEARS HIS WILL NOT OURS, 4.Hanna Penn Died Dec 24, 1882 Age 40 YEARS GONE HOME TO REST [born abt 1842].It is unknown who these slaves are and their lineage. It is my families hope someone will recognize these names and help us find our ancestors. It would be appreciated.
Finally, slave-owner Dr. Richard and Christiana Alexander (English) Maiben descendants have tried to help with names, dates, and places but they too have limited information. Our Maiben family appreciates their Maiben family for their efforts and we thank them.If this extremely large white Maiben family has anything to add or share - it is our hope this is enough documented data placed online to help this African-American family with our genealogy. Please email any additional information.
And, of course, if any black Maiben/Mabon/Mayben/Maben... from the Finchburg, Monroe County, Clarke County, Butler County, ALABAMA areas please feel free to contact us so we may colaborate& try to piece our ancestry back together.

Thank you for reading my Maiben family genealogy. My sources are mainly vital records, census records, genealogy libraies, newspaper research, Internet: LDS Family Search, GenWeb Project, Ancestry.com, GenForum and genealogy pages provided by the city or county of interest including phone books, city directories, interviews and genealogy books.
All the above names are deceased.I have not included any alive people. My mission is genealogy and not to reveal or hurt anyone. My motto is "If It Is Not Written It Will Be Forgotten."Professional genealogist have said that a person is forgotten within "two" generations.I want our Maiben descendants to remember us and I want to know my Maiben ancestors.
