Re: If you have info on majury name in USA
I have been researching the Majury line of my family for 7 years now. The ancestors of anyone with this name as it is spelled, seems to come from Northern Ireland. Various spellings include, Majaury, Majuery, Majurey, Maguery, Maquery, Mejury and McJury. My family had always said the name was huguenot in origin. A cousin of my fathers had traced the name to Normandy and the Channel Islands, possible spelling, "Marguerie".
My grandfather was one of 10 children born to James M* and Margaret Cunningham in 1878. This family, originally from Co. Down, lived wherever James found work as a miller, in Co.'s Antrim and Armagh. My grandad and many of his siblings came to Canada in 1902. His eldest brother James came in 1919 but settled in Passaic N.J. in 1924.
Where are you from? I'll share my info with you if you'd like, perhaps we can find a connection.
