Hi Jane,
Sorry for the delayed response; we've been so busy since our return from Ireland. We LOVED Ireland, by the way, and we look forward to visiting again some day! We'll also make a trip to Scotland too!
I haven't had any time to do any family research of late but plan to get back to it. In looking at Edward Malloy's (my great great grandfather) marriage certificate from Scotland, he was an Engine Keeper when he was married in 1896. He married Gertrude Margaret Burns whose father, Henry Burns, was a Foreman in Steel Work. Is this coincidental? Do you know if any of your family went to the U.S. or had any connections to anyone named Burns? The certficate also says Edward's father was a farmer who married Mary Smith. Hope I'm not repeating myself here as it's been too long since I had a chance to visit this site! My apologies if I am.
Anyway, will check out Rootschat as soon as I can and would love to get back with you again!
Thanks so much!
Barb Malloy
