OBIT-Florence R. Malloy, 94, dau of Jeremiah and Emilia Maffeo
Florence R. (Maffeo) Malloy, 94, of Auburn, formerly of Dorchester, MA, died peacefully on May 20, 2010 in the Lutheran Healthcare Center, 26 Harvard St., Worcester after a long illness.
She is survived by her daughter, Joan P. Baker and her husband, Charles, of Auburn; five grandchildren, Charles Baker III and his wife, Dorothy Pizzella, of Brookline, Angela MacKenzie and her husband, Rory, of Templeton, Janet Baker and her husband, Richard Malabre, of Hamilton, Deborah Baker of Westborough and Roberta Baker of Auburn; six great grandchildren, Philip Brown, Anthony Baker, Sam Malabre, Ian Malabre, Evan Baker and Sarah Baker; her brother, Robert Maffeo, of Marshfield and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Frank Maffeo, and her great grandson, Matthew Brown.
Born in Boston, MA on October 7, 1915, Florence was the daughter of Jeremiah and Emilia Maffeo. She graduated from Dorchester High School in 1933. During her career as an administrative assistant at The Board of Registration of Architects, Engineers and Land Surveyors, Florence lived in Dorchester. Upon her retirement 30 years ago, she moved to Auburn. Florence loved to travel with family and friends, to visit Florida and Vermont, to attend family gatherings and to contribute her homemade ravioli and red cake to family celebrations. She was a devoted and loving mother and mother-in-law and the beloved "Nana" of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
The family wishes to express its deepest appreciation to the 3rd Floor staff at the Lutheran Healthcare Center and the staff of Evercare Hospice for their loving and compassionate care.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a calling hour from 9:30 to 10:30 AM on Monday May 24, 2010, in the Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central St. Auburn.Her funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 AM in North American Martyrs' Church, 8 Wyoma Drive, Auburn.Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery.
