john the emigrant mann

for those interested in this family do a google search on national cyclopaedia of american biography and search for isaac thomas mann. book was written in 1916 so am assuming that the bio information came from him. it says that his gggrandparents were william mann and jane hamilton which follows the usuall line. it also says the william was from kent england, brother of isaac mann, bishop of cork and settled here in 1735 and bought a large estate in va. their son thomas married elizabeth armstrong and was treacheroushy killed by simon girty and a band of indians while serving under gen wayne in ohio. jane hamilton was a shrewd woman and increased the size of the estate, owned a lot of slaves and outlived a lot of her children. article only gives isaac thomas direct line so no help there. it might also explain why moses mann called himself a planter when he bought property from beverly. as usual ir raises more questions than answers-mike mann
