Orange County NY Manions/Mannions
Hi all,
I am trying to sort out several Manion/Mannion lines that settled in Orange County NY in the mid to late 1800s. I am guessing they are somehow related, but would like to clarify the connection. My branch descended from a William Manion (County Roscommon?) that married a Mary Cosgrove (County Mayo). My William was baptized in 1836 in Kilcoman Roman Catholic Parish, Claremorris, County Mayo.
One other line was Thomas Manion, born circa 1830 in Ireland, married Bridget, child Maria born in England circa 1847, other children born in NY. Thomas lived in the same small town of Monroe during the 1870 census. Also a John Manion, born circa 1844, who enlisted in the Civil War from the neighboring town of Goshen in 1865. My William was drafted in 1863 and was already living in Monroe.
There were also other Manions in surrounding NY counties during the 1860 census. If you have any information that might be helpful, or if I have any information that might help you, please let me know!
