Yes,my grandfather, Edgar Thomas Manns from Baltimore Maryland was African American. However, people that didn't know our family always thought that he was Jewish.He did not look African American at all.

To the best of my knowledge,our family only lived in Maryland and Virginia. My great grandmother's name was Betty Mathews and she could have been White or Indian.I am still searching for information about her.
The names of the siblings: Carrie,Bernard, Herbert, Ella and Ada.
