I am not a MANNS researcher, but I came across this name in a Catalogue of Pupils of Saint Frances Academy for Colored Girls, Baltimore, Maryland, for school year 1867-68.(This would have been right after the Civil War.)

The catalogue lists the following pupils:

Mary MANNS, home town Richmond, VA.

Margaret MANNS, no home town listed.

The school was organized by the Sisters of Providence, of the Catholic Church, and provided instruction to girls of color in religion, history, geography, sewing, writing, embroidery, music, painting, etc.

I hope this is helpful to you.
