Manwaring in Sullivan County Indiana
For those searching this family in Indiana, especially in Sullivan County, I have found 2 transcription errors on Ancestry, one of them pretty misleading.
1860 census for Sullivan county, Curry Township:Manwarning
Richard Manwarning, 50, born New York
Jane Manwarning, 22, born Indiana
William Manwarning, 14, born Indiana
Lemuel Manwarning, age 2, born Indiana
Barbara Manwarning, age 6 months, born Indiana
There appears to be no wife, but a 6 mo old baby. I forgot to check the day & mo of the census, so the wife would have died within the last 6 months. i think her name was Barbara. The church in New Shelburn (Curry Township) has a wonderful photo of Richard. He was quite a hansome gentleman.
Also found in the same Curry Township, Solomon Monuassing. If you look at the original it is clear that this is actually Manwarring.
Solomon Monuassing, b.abt 1812, Indiana (age 48)
Elizabeth Monuassing, age 40
Sarah E. Monuassing, age 18
Adelia I. Monuassing, age 16
Emeline Monuassing, age14
Elizabeth Monuassing, age 12 (this is my 3rd Great GM)
james W. Monuassing, age 7
George E. Monuassing, age 1
Brother George is also in Sullivan co, Sullivan township
His name is transcribed George Maniwarinny.
He is 41 and his wife Saarah is 37. His birth is IN and hers is Ken, short for Kentucky. It was transcribed Kenya!
Brother Joel Manwaring is also in Sullivan Co, Sullivan Township, IN. His name appears to be the only one transcribed correctly.
Hope the Monuassing error helps some people who are searching.
