Jill, I am sure your info is correct.I will correct my records. Here is where some of the confusion is: 1) George H. Maple (1907-1959) obit listed his children as Harold (deceased), HOMER, Gertrude Brehm (Fla), Rev Frank (Pittsburg), Donald, Ronald (deceased),... etc. 2. The 1930 census lists ALICE M. 21 yrs, Harold 2 yrs & HOMER A. 8 months old. 3) There was a brief news item in the Portsmouth Daily Times, Jan 26, 1950 Pg 8 re: ALICE Maple vs George Maple. So, apparently your dad is the oldest surviving child (not oldest child) of George Homer Maple,Sr (not George Henry Maple)& he was recorded as Homer in census records & obits - not George.Your gr grandparents then are George HENRY Maple(1870-1939) & Rebecca Ann Hoover. Apparently your gr mother was recorded as Alice M. instead of Minta A. Was your mom named Lucille? Just goes to prove that Census records, obituaries & even marriage & divorce records can't always be relied on. I am descended from John & Nancy (Hickman) Maple's son David who moved to Saline County IL along with his mother & most of his siblings in the 1860's.Pls contact s-sowell @earthlink.net for follow up.
