I am not sure if this is my family yet, but I found this info through a Google Books search for MAPLES info related to Mary Jane Maples and Garretts. This indicates she was related to Sarah G(arrett?) and Stephen W Maples of Dallas Co, Alabama. Greenbury Garrett was appointed guardian of Mary when her mother died. Her mother is listed as Sarah G Maples in one document and a Sarah G Maples is listed as the wife of Stephen W Maples in a related will. A Sarah Maples is also listed as administratrix for the estate of her mother, Mrs. Ann Williams.Good Luck!
