Dan,
Did we ever find Domenic and Maria in New York for the 1880 census?
I couldn't remember so I just started a new search and look what I found.
Benedict Marcello (Head of Household)
b. 1835 in Italy
Maria(Wife)
b. 1848 in England
Domenique(Son)
b. 1867 in N.Y.
Mary(Dau.)
b. 1870 in N.Y.
Elizabeth(Dau.)
b. 1873 in N.Y.
Rosa(Dau.)
b. 1877 in N.Y.
Bernard(Son)
b. 1879 in N.Y.
Check out the similarities:
The mother's first name.
Mother's birth location.
The oldest son is named Domenic(sp)
A daughter named Elizabeth.
That daughter born in mid 1870's.
All children born in N.Y.
The other kids I know of for our Domenic and Maria are all born in the 1880's so they wouldn't be here if this were the right family.
I would not have ever guessed that there was another family with so many near misses and not be convinced it was not the same family.
Unless this info was given by a neighbor I will have to say that it is just an eerie coincidence but I will keep an open mind.
Later,
Bob
P.S. I changed ISPs so check out my new email address.
