Cora Mae March Grinde obituary submitted
Cora Mae Grinde, the daughter of Richard and Marie Lenschied March, was born on January 29, 1913, in Slayton, Minnesota. She grew up in Slayton and attended school graduating from the Slayton High School in 1930. Cora then went to Mankato Teachers College. She then taught at several schools in southwest Minnesota. Cora Mae was united in marriage to Lloyd Grinde on June 22, 1941, at the Presbyterian Manse. After their marriage they farmed north of Slayton until their retirement in 1979. In 1984, they moved into Slayton. Cora remained at home after Lloyd's death on August 11, 2000. Cora passed away in Burnsville, Minnesota on Friday, April 25, 2008, at the age of 95. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Slayton where she was involved with Sunday school, choir, Ladies Aid and the youth group. She enjoyed sewing, being a 4-H leader, baking, gardening, watching sports, reading and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her two daughters: Barb Holbrook and her husband Paul, Slayton, MN; and Judy McDonald, Burnsville, MN; five grandchildren: Tom (Peggy) Holbrook, Mike (Cassie Shorten) Holbrook, Rick (Dannette) Holbrook, Amy (Mike) Furth and Tom (Carleen) O'Gorman; ten great-grandchildren: Shawn, Nathan, Chantal, Ricky, Gracie, Zach, Jacob and Lucas Holbrook, Lexi Vogt and Claire O'Gorman and one brother Curtis (Julie) March. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Clyde, Cecil, Frank and John; and two sisters: Cleo and Mabel Clare.
Funeral services were held at the First Presbyterian Church, Slayton, MN at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, April 28, 2008, with the Rev. Dave Poppen officiating. The organist was Nola Aanenson. The pallbearers were Tom Holbrook, Mike Holbrook, Rick Holbrook, Mike Furth, Warren Hansen and Shawn Holbrook. Honorary pallbearers were her great-grandchildren. Interment at Slayton Memorial Gardens Slayton, MN.
