Thanks for your info. These Marchmans are very hard to track down in the early 1800's. As far as I've been able to find, the first mention of Wiley is in the 1832 Cherokee Land Lottery. He is listed as W. G. Marchman and was residing in Fayette County at the time. He married Sarah Moore Feb. 26, 1834, but I can't find what county they married in. I got the date from another researcher, and it fits with the later Census data, but I would really like to find which county it was. I cannot find Wiley in the 1840 Census anywhere. He next resurfaces in the 1850 Census and is easy to track from there forward. John Marchman is found in several Tax Digests in Hancock County, GA in the late 1700's. Elizabeth Barnes and her siblings were in the process of moving to this region of Georgia in 1811-1813 (based on Tax Digests and Marriage Records). John Marchman is also very hard to track thru records. I can't find him again for sure until 1831 in Henry County when he gives land to his son, M.G. Marchman. I cannot find any Marchman in Georgia in 1830-1860 with those initials or a first name beginning with 'M'. John then appears in Henry County's 1840 Census, living next to Harrison Moore(who married Sally Barnes), Hezikiah Allen (who married John's daughter, Elizabeth Marchman), and Harrison Moore's father, Joshua Moore. (Joshua also had a daughter, Lucy, who married my GG-Grandfather, Allen Barnes, they are nearby). That pretty well covers all the facts that I can find. Joshua Moore left a will in Henry County, but I haven't had a chance to go to the library and take a look. I SUSPECT that it will name Sarah Marchman as a daughter. I am NOT trying to prove that Wiley George Marchman was John and Elizabeth Barnes Marchman's son. I'm trying to collect every fact I can find and then see what they show. I haven't done any research at all on Charles and Tabitha Barnes Marchman. I don't have a Tabitha in my FamilyTreeMaker files, but it does seem like I've I have heard of her...I will see what I can find from the Barnes' side of the family. Thanks again and please share whatever further info. you have that might help me learn more about Charles and Ebenezer Marchman.
