Were there 2 Frank Hughes living in the same area of NY state during the same time period?I have photos to share of Frank and Blanche Hughes. Blanche's mother was Emeretta (MARKHAM) COOK b. 1846 in New York ================================================= 1st generation (earliest) On the 1900 census for Frank & Blanche Hughes, living with them at that time was: Cook, Erma, age 54 (born May 1846 in NY, mother-in-law, widowed, her father born IL, her mother born in NY -- I'm not sure this is correct), but here is Emeretta (Markham) Cook a few years before her marriage to Lyman T. Clark, I think it was about 1904). ================================================ 2nd generation 'Cousin Arlene' did a brief search for Blanche E. Cook and Frank R. Hughes and found them living in Chicago from 1900 thru 1940. Blanche was born Dec. 14, 1867 (location unsure unless the information below about Alma is correct). Blanche may have been previously married as I can't find a record of Blanche and Frank's marriage. Whoever provided the information that Blanche Cook married a Horn, seems to be incorrect; it was their daughter Alma who married a Horn. =================================================3rd generation Frank and Blanche Hughes had two known children: 1. Alma Hughes, born about May 1888 (1900 census says she was born in IL). Alma died in Chicago on November 9 , 1942. Death information said she was born on May 31, 1887 in Syracuse (Onondaga Co.), NY. The information also stated that her father, Frank R. Hughes was born in Barneveld, NY; her mother, Blanche Cook, was born in Oregon, Ogle Co., IL. The information likely came from her husband, Herbert (and some may not be correct--not sure that Blanche was born in Ogle Co., IL, but I will see if I can find out where). Alma was buried in Graceland Cemetery, Chicago. 2. Raymond S. Hughes, born Sept., 1890 (1900 census says he was born in IL, 1910 census says he was born in New York).
Alma married Herbert L. Horn some time before 1912. Their children were: 1. Frank Horn, born May 23 1912 in Chicago 2. Herbert Oscar Horn, born June 27 1916 in Chicago 3. John Raymond Horn, born Feb. 10 1921 in Chicago, Illinois.
Since Frank and Blanche Hughes had their first child in May 1887, I have a very strong feeling that there were two people named Frank R. Hughes in the Oneida Co., area (or the middle initial may not be "R"). I surmise that the Frank Hughes who married Harriet Wells is a different person.
