Michael Mares, I am researching the Martinez family line from Antonio Severino Martin married to Maria del Carmen Santistevan down to Jacob Luis Martinez born @1882 in Taos, baptized Catholic. His family held part of the King's Grant land around Taos, and his family included John, a Spanish-American war veteran, a sister Ursula, and other siblings. His Mother's maiden name was Edwighen Mostron, survivor of Indian raid, brought up by a Doctor Cook, and his father was Juan Manuel Martinez. His Grandparents were called Papa Luis and Mama Luz. He is buried in a non-Catholic cemetary, not where his son, Andrew Eloy Martinez, is interred. My Mother'scousin, in her 80's, vague about baptismal names. According to my late Mother, her Dad was a deputy when the late Arthur Manby was discovered beheaded in his house, which had originally been owned by my other Grandfather. So much for Taos gossip. Anyway, I can't find proof of Jacob's parents or grandparents without buying some tome of 1800 baptisms in Taos.Any advice?
