In persuing my Pfautz(Fouts) roots, I found a treasure. Along the Rhine and Ergolz Rivers in Basel Canton, from about 15 mi N.W. of Basel S.E., 35 mi., to Rengg are the ancesteral towns of families that married into my Pfautz family. Mulhouse, Muttenz (Spainhour), Waldenburg(Yanz,Younce), Farnsberg,Ch. (Falkenstein>Pfauw>Faw>Pfauz>Pfautz>Fouts), Zeglingen(MAST/Maust),Bucketen (Burket (?)), Oberkulm (Huber/Herbert Hoover's line), Rengg (Neff), and in your line Rickenbach.Several Swiss families added a t before the z in Germany; Herzell, Yanz, Pfauz etc.. I think they moved,(when and why?) to near Farnsberg, Germany, W. of Heidelberg to rebuild and resettle the Palatine, "The most beautiful ruins in Europe",after the 30 Years War. To Pa.,1700-1750(Many became Dunkers)>Md>NC(near Lexington circa 1764), then Wilkes/Ashe Co,NC, about 1781 and on the Wilderness trail to Indiana, Iowa etc. to join families from Pa.. Any info on Falkenstine>Pfauw>Pfauz? Why the move from Switzerlnand?
