Hi Linda,
You belong to my group of Matheson/Matherson's :-). I remember Uncle Clint, even if I was a child when he passed. I am Gwen's daughter (Sam & Susie's grandaughter, from Moundville) Sandy.
Ive been researching our line of Matherson's for 5 years now. I do have a few things different from what you have posted.
Donald and Eliza (Christian Elizabeth Cameron) immgrated from Scotland aboard the Brig Czar 23 June 1841 (I have a copy of the passenger list). Eliza's parents, Donald & Mary Cameron also came with them along with Eliza's brothers.
Eliza is buried at the Fort William Cemetary in Sylacauga, AL. I have been to her gravesite, her parents are buried next to her. I also have photo's I will share.
The "R" was added to the Matheson name by a circuit clerk in Talladega when Donald recieved his naturalization papers. I have a copy of this too and will share.
I currently work at Bryce Hospital and I am in the process of going through Donald's hospital records if they can locate them for me, and trying once again, to locate his grave site.
I have now found Cordelia's family information as well as a decendant from the Holmes side of the family. I have supplied him with the Matherson info, for his records, and will glady share the Holmes information. I am still searching for Cordelia's grave site and or any photos of her I can find. Please email me, I have found some information I have been working on for the last 2 years, which will add another Matherson to our family if I can find the records to validate what I have learned.
Donald & Eliza had 4 children, Twins Mary & John. John died shortly after birth, another son, they also named John was born on the ship as they immigrated to the US. and Thomas, who was born in AL. Mary married John Bergin, and I have located one Mary's decendants & have exchanged information with them . I have accumulated too much to type in here and Im getting ready to dig deeper. Look forward to hearing from you.
Regards,
