Joe - just had another thought - I have a photo of Smith Matlock's headstone - Elijah's son - in the Cottonwood Cemetery, about 30 feet south of my grandfather's (George Washington White, Smith's first cousin) headstone, which definitely spells the name "Matlock."Would be glad to email the photo if you thought it would help.
