I may have some information for you.I had some correspondence with an Alan W. Martin of 5310 Carthage Lane, Burke, Virginia22015, who told me that his family comes from an Alexander Maxwell who resided in Wenham, Mass. His son Gershom moved to Wells, Maine in 1720.Whether he has any further information I do not know. In Wells there is still standing "Ye Olde Maxwell Place" which may have been built by Gershom.
We have traced our ancestors back to an Alexander Maxwell who would have been born about 1694 and died Aug. 1745 in Holliston, Mass. The family then moved to Plainfield (Windham), Conn., from there to Delphi and Deposit, N.Y., and my branch to Illinois.
