Today I received your message about the Maxwells, Alexanders, and Lanning. I have wondered about the Alexanders, but not pursued it at this point, so am glad to hear from you.
Fanny was a sister to my 2nd great grandfather, John Maxwell. I am not sure what became of James Alexander, but assume he died about 1839 or 1840. She married 2nd to Calvin Winegar (don't have a marriage date for them)and they remained in Jackson County, IN. I don't know of any children that Fanny and James may have had. The oldest child of Fanny and Calvin was a daughter, Julie born in 1841. I found cemetery listings for the Winegars at the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Owen, Indiana. Fanny died in 1885.
I don't know if Sarah Lanning was a brother to Joseph as the Lannings aren't in my direct line and so haven't looked into that. There were several Lannings in that area. I am sure that Sarah and Fanny were sisters.
I'm sorry I can't give you a more definitive answer, but hope this helps a little. Do you know if James and Fanny had any children? Meanwhile good luck in your searching. Trisha Bennett
