I've been chasing Elisha Maxwell for 40 years.I think Thomas is a brother. In the Greenville Co Deeds Thomas Maxwell had a deed regarding his grandchildren.Dau Martha marr John Stanford (Standiford).Witness was Nimrod Maxwell. Nimrod and Thomas are names you can associate with that Elisha.I know that Maxwell was also Maxfield. My Jonathan Maxwell 1788-1845 was his son I think. Jonathan was suppossed to be born in North Carolina.Elisha was in Montgomery Co VA and in Enoch Osborns company for a while.
My Maxwell's in IL are associated with the same Osborn family. My Jonathan was in Greene Co., TN 1808 and had a brother William. Firsr son born there 1812.
1782 Montgomery Co., VA Maxwell's
Abram, Bazleel, Elisha, Elisha, James, Jacob, Jeremiah, John, Wm Sr & Thomas. For what it's worth I think the John Maxwell is the one born Kent Co MD who moves to Ash Co, NC after Mont Co, VA and dies in McLean Co, IL.His father is John who dies at a very advanced age. Enoch Osborn's company moved south to Ash Co., NC.In those days sometimes family moved with the soldiers. 1790 Elisha appears to be in Pendleton District, SC.
