Ezra (1731-1778) in Rev. War from Mass.
I was at a meeting the other day where a woman presented a program on The Battles at Saratoga, Sept. 19 & Oct. 7. 1777.One of the men mentioned:
"Ezra May (1731-1778) is the two-greats grandson of William Cheney and Margaret Cole.Col. Ezra May was the commander of the 2nd Hampshire County Regiment of Massachusetts Militia and operated under the command of Brigadier General John Nixon during the final battle at Saratoga (October 7).They held the right wing of the 7,000 man advance of American forces that fateful day.Nixon's entire brigade was again involved four days later in assuring that the British army's line of retreat was blocked. The enlistment of Col. May's regiment was up on October 14, and with the British surrender assured, they returned home."
