Shirley,
I descend from Washington Jones Wren & Sophia McAliley. The Edward D. Wren you cite is my WJ Wren's brother and Sophia is 1st cousin to Matilda McAliley.
According to "History of Madison Co.IL" and the 1850 census, Matilda was born in IL about 1823.I have not found record of them after 1850.
My Wren line is fairly stubborn prior to 1820.I am most interested in researching Randolph Wren(n) family (he's WJ Wren's grandfather).I have him in Smith Co. TN 1804-1809, Warren Co., KY 1811-1812, and Lawrence Co., AL 1820.In 1806, Randolph Wren witnessed the will of Berryman Turner (from NC).This was in Smith Co., TN.
There is also a Wren-Turner connection in c1870 Moultrie Co., IL. Nathaniel Greene Wren (one of WJ & Sophia kids) m. Mary Ann Turner and Sophia is (supposedly) buried in Turner Cemetery.
I would be interested in exchanging more info.
