Don't know if any of the following information will help you in your search?
I too am looking for information on Charles McAteeb. 1864d. 1906Married Minnie Fransb. 1871d. 1905 family, in Marshall County, Kansas.
My interest is mainly with Minnie Frans, who was the daughter of Tazewell Jr. & Susanah M. (Rogers) Frans. Minnie was born in Missouri, Buchanan County. Married Charles McAtee in Kansas, Elm Creek, Marshall County on 27 Nov 1889. I know of 5 children to this union: Lenora M b:Jan 1891, Susan M. born Sept 1892, Raymond C. born Oct 1894, Lawson G. born march 1897, & William V. born Feb 1899.
Minnie would only have been married to Charles for 5 years - gave birth to 5 children during that time and then died. I can't find anything on where she was buried or what became of her children.
The first James McAtee was living in Missouri and was carrying mail using a team of horses and wagon. The team ran away. There was an accident and James died as a result. His widow Elizaremarried in 1858 to Mr. J. Waller (Marriage Certificate in St. Joseph, Mo.)Descendants of Rufus McAtee relate thatEliza Jane walked to Marshall Co. KS from Missouri with baby girl Martha in her arms with 7 of the boys following and leading a cow.She lived just north of the Elm Creek Cemetery, NE of Blue Rapids, KS.First in a dugout in the bank along the creek and later in a house.
Eliza's 3rd marriage was to Peter Gift.He may be buried in Marysville KS. cemetery.
