Re: JANE MCCANN / MCCANNE AND JOHN GILMAN
Thanks so much for the info. Together, we can get this line of McCannes accurate. In my family, we were fortunate to have an ancestor take the time to write down all she remembered about our Rowe family. Her father, Christopher Rowe, was born 1811.She wrote that he kept a dictionary on the handle of the plow as he plowed fields, and knew the meaning of more words than anyone she knew. Without this, we might never have figured out a lot of our history. Many records were lost over the years, it became essential to rely on family bibles, letters, and such. Today is no different. What we put together today will be cherished by our descendants.I encourage everyone to write down what you know about your family, as to personalities, demeanors, achievements, etc. Ask questions from older family members while you still can.
I wrote a book about my childhood, simply writing down everything I remembered . My daughter was amazed at how things have changed just in my lifetime.
Thanks again for your help.
