Re: McCarel family of Ohio and Indiana
There was a Lodowyck McCarrell who came into Washington Co., Penn., from Ireland around 1800.Although I see no "William" listed among the descendants I have noted in a biographical essay perhaps there is some connection to your family since Washington Co. is quite near Jefferson Co.
just across a hill and a river.
The article is about a Dr. David McCarrell born 1833.Lodowyck is his grandfather.Lodowyck married Martha Leman and had children: John, Isabella, Thomas, James, Elizabeth, Andrew & Leman. Any of the men here could be your William's father since he would have been born perhaps around 1830.
Dr. David McCarrell is the son of Thomas who married three times.David is from his second marriage and there was no William in this family, so you can eliminate Thomas. From the article I can tell you that John settled in Venango Co., PA.James was in Beaver County, PA., Andrew lived in Washington Co. in Mt. Pleasant Twp., and Leman died in Taylorstown, PA, which I think is in Buffalo Twp., Washington Co.
That is all the info I have.It comes from the J.H. Beers Commemorative Biographical Record of Washington Co., Penn.,
1893, p. 718.At least it's a place to start.
