McCarrick - Read
In the 1855 NY Census for Albany, NY there's a large McCarrick family that shared a home with two other families. Parents are BM McCarrick age 47 and Brig. (Bridget?) McCarrick, age 44, both of whom were born in Ireland. BM was naturalized. They had nine children listed: Mary, 22 (born in Ireland), Brid. 16, Harriet 14, Eliz. 9, Thos 12, Ann(?)7, Hugh 5, Ed. 2 and Mary Kirby 1, some of whom were born in Canada. The parents, and oldest daughter Mary are listed as having been residents for 20 years.
The family was living in a home with Jane Read, age 45, a widow with four daughters ages 11-20. Jane was also from Ireland and had had an older son born in Canada. Her daughters were born in Albany.
Also living in the home was John Riche, age 27, a son-in-law (not sure whose son-in-law), married, born in Ireland, naturalized. He had two small children, Ellen Riche age 2 and Jno. H. Riche age 8/12, born in Rensselaer County, NY.
Would like to determine if and how these three families were related. I'm wondering if Bridget and Jane could've been sisters.
Jane Read's maiden name may have been Mitchell.
