Granville McCauley (1926-2008), USA
Granville ?eGranny?f McCauley, 82, of Viola died Thursday, November 27, 2008 at his home. He was born October 29, 1926 in Richland County the son of Byron and Edna (Shireman) McCauley. Granville graduated from Richland Center High School and he was active in boxing, football, and baseball. He joined the Navy during WWII and served in the Pacific Theatre, spending most of his time in Japan. After serving he returned home and farmed with his father. On February 15, 1949 Granville married Ardyth Pauls at the Boaz United Methodist Church. The couple farmed for a short time before moving to Rockford. They later returned to Richland County were they farmed and Granville went to work at the Richland Center Foundry for 39 years. He enjoyed his horses, driving his team, chickens, pheasants, fishing, hunting deer and squirrels, and camping. Granville loved watching his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren in all of their activities. He was an avid Badger and Packer fan.
Granville is survived by his wife of 59 years, Ardyth, five children, Linda McCauley of Tomah, Bob (Sandi) McCauley of Peoria, IL, Mark McCauley of LaCrosse, Barb (Mike) Rybarczyk of Norwalk, Kim (Ron) Dwyer of Warrens, 13 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, two sisters, Marlene (Milton) Truesdale of Rockford, Carolyn (Dave) Crouch of Morton, IL, two brothers, Vic (Lois) McCauley of Rockland, IL, Elmer (Angie) McCauley of Viola, special friend, Pattie McCauley of LaCrosse, many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Granville was preceded in death by his parents, son Gary, sisters Letha Henderson and Nellie Parsons, and brother Melvin Dewey McCauley.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 1, 2008 at 11:00 AM at the Pratt Memorial Chapel with Pastor Tim Norland officiating. Burial will follow in the Viola Cemetery with military graveside rites
