voyages to new lands
I have read with interest this forum page and note that my brother David Hector is mentioned. I am one of six siblings of Hector McCluggage and Joyce barbara(nee) Ries. My grand father was Robert and he married Daisy Elizabeth Watkins whose origins gobackto Bath in England.
Robert McCluggage emigrated from Ireland in the 1800s to New zealand with some of his siblings of which I can rememenber, Tom, and Agnew, but there were at least two others.
My aunt Daisy Elizabeth McCluggage (married Kevin Wratt) traced our heritage back to Carnduff close to Larne in Ireland and on a vist there located the original McCluggage sewing shop.
It is believed that there was an original emigration from Scotland possibly from McCluish or McDonald, but I am unsure.
My search at this time is to discover which ship or by what route, McCluggages arrived in New Zealand.
One anecdote that I have is that a McCluggage escaped back to Ireland frome the French revolution.
Regards to all on the forum and "McCluggage" Search
