Re: McConnell in Upstate NY
Where have you looked for info on Kathleen McConnell Johnson?NY state maintains a vital record index collection (birth, marriage and death) from 1880 to ??.The collection is available in Rochester, Syracuse and Albany. If you live near either, call the main library or check their web site to see where it is located.Using this, you should be able to find at least their marriage record number. With the number, you have to write to Albany to get a copy of the record.
You might also try the largest library in the area where they lived. Most sizable libraries keep local newspaper records. You may be able to find marriage and death info from the local newspaper.
Do you have a copy of Norman Johnson's obituary?Obits sometimes give clues to other family members and if they were still married at the time of his death, it may give info on Kathleen.
Do you know for sure that she has died?If she was younger than he was, she may still be alive.
You might also check with the town clerk and the county clerk.NY also has town and county historians who can offer some assistance.Look on USgenweb.com for NY counties and towns. From there, look for names and contact info for clerks and historians.
The town clerk may have information on their marriage on file.Since it's probably been more than 50 years since they married, the information can be released to anyone.
You can email me if you have any questions.Good luck.
