Cary,
I saw your posting on the David McCord b1745 marrying Mary Allison in Washington Co TN.I'm curious if his sister Margaret also married there to a second husband named Allison.
A McCord researcher had posted that Margeret McCord (sister of David, daughter of David Sr. killed 1758 by Indians, captured by the Indians with siblings) married a "Simon" Carson, moved to Washington TN and then married an Unknown Allison after her first husband died.I don't think "Simon" was her first husband's first name. That marriage was generations earlier in Ireland based on trees I've seen.
William Carson born 1735-40 PA married Margaret McCord in 1760 Derry, Lancaster PA (by Rev. John Roan).William Carson and Margaret McCord are not listed in Lancaster by the 1770s, so they went somewhere.William Carson died 1790 in Washington Co TN leaving widow Margaret (children William, David, Robert, John, Jeneat, Mary). These appear to be my Carson line.Multiple postings and trees suggest this was Margaret McCord Carson. There were 5 Allison males as their neighbors, suggesting she possibly could have married one. There were numerous McCords living nearby them in TN also.
Questions:
Have you ever heard of Margaret McCord Carson marrying an Allison in Washington TN 1790s?
Some researchers suggest the Indians took the children from Lancaster PA to Mecklenburg NC in 1758.Do you know if that is correct or just an assumption because some children ended up there?Obviously, Margaret McCord who married 1760 wasn't in NC at the time (if she was David McCord's daughter).
Thanks for any hints here.
Gary Carson
