Christopher "Stuffer" McCrary and sometimes Edner!

By melissa blackburn May 01, 2007 at 01:09:57

I am trying to find out more information on a Frederick Edinger, living in Wilkes Co., NC in 1820 and 1830, according to the census.

His son may have been Christopher "Stuffer" Edner, Sr, of Wilkes, who was going by the family name McCrary in the 1830 and 1840 Wilkes census, but went by "Edner" in the 1850 census and then back again to McCrary in 1860!

See Jason Duncan's research on the McCrarys and Edingers/Edners at

Frederick's wife may have been a McCrary:

Any assistance with the mystery of why this family would have changed its name and any other info would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you in advance!
