In short, yes.You have to understand our family lived on Ulva. They were revered as an ancient clan of royal lineage. The name MacRuaidhri is written as such, to properly portray the name as it sounded anciently. It was spelled in so many ways even in early times, that it evolved into many American names.Study the Island of Ulva, books such as A Description of the Western Isles of Scotland,A Journey to the Western Isles of Scotland,The_Highlands_and_Western_Isles_of_Scotl, all of which are availabe online. You will see the writers of these books visited our island and spelled the name differently. One even visited a royal gravesite and our family member was buried in it.
Many will say our name is Irish.Saying you are Irish does not mean your family always lived in Ireland. The McCrearys migrated to Ireland in the early 1600s and then to America and some directly from Scotland to America.
