John and Amelia apparently stayed in Warren County, GA.A John of the right age appears in the Warren Co. census for 1820 (Capt. Elijah Jones' District), 1830, and 1840 (Jones District). The McCrarys were farmers, and the census reports that John owned 18 slaves in 1830 and 25 in 1840.Amelia does not appear in 1840, so she probably died before then.John does not appear in the 1850 census, nor is he mentioned in his brother Levi's will (written 1845 in Warren Co.), so John apparently died between 1840-1845.
The census indicates only one daughter, born between 1815-20.It's possible that John and Amelia are buried in the McCrary cemetery in Warren County, since it's near where they lived. There are unmarked stones for 10 people. The stone for John's father Matthew is now marked with a stone from the VA, since Matthew was a Revolutionary War patriot.
Good luck with your search.
Meg (I'm descended from John's sister Martha, who married Samuel Hall and also stayed in Warren Co.)
