Hello again Theresa,

Your query prompted a little more research. In my well-worn copies of Dan Crumpton’s wonderful books on Warren County, Georgia, I found the following information about John McCrary:

1.John McCrary died shortly before 27 Sep 1847 in Warren County, because on that date the administration of John’s estate was granted to Jesse M. Roberts (Inferior Court Minutes 1846-1851, p.46).

2.Jesse M. Roberts married Louisa McCrary in Warren County on 17 Dec 1829 (Marriages 1825-1834, p.130).

3.The Warrenton Clipper ran the following obituary on 8 Apr 1885:“Mrs. Louisa Roberts, 70 yrs; d. 7 Apr 1885 Warrenton, Ga.; fam. burial ground-Old Homestead; “large fam. of sons & daughters”; “honored & wealthy resident of Warrenton.”

Since Louisa was born in 1815 (from the obit), John had a daughter born in 1815 (from the 1820 & 1830 census), and Louisa’s husband Jesse administered John’s estate, Louisa was almost certainly John and Amelia’s daughter – but perhaps you already know this.

Thanks for your query. It’s always helpful to see the bigger picture by learning more about the family of my immediate ancestors. If you’re John and Amelia’s descendant, then I guess we’re cousins!
Meg
