Good evening.
The 1898 death notice might have been James Washington (J. W.) McCrary of Greensboro, Alabama, the brother of David Franklin (D. F.) McCrary, also of Greensboro. Evidently both were natives of North Carolina, they had several siblings, their father being David McCrary of NC.
