Thanks Linda, for that information. There is also a copy in the LA State Archives Library in BAton Rouge and for those in East Texas, copies in both the Dallas and Fort Worth TX public libraries. Also, of course, at Austin with several in libraries in West Texas.
Did you note who donated the McCraw book to the Sheve Memorial Library, Broadmoor Branch,My husband and I spent several days and nights with James Stewart who is descended from Reverend Abner Gary McCraw who purchased much land in LA near Shreveport to grow cotton and send slaves with one of his sons, daughter and son in law and other relatives to live there.James Stewart's ancestors kept several hundred years of records which are not copied and deposited in the Archives at the University of Lousiana's library. There are several McCraws living in Shreveport and area.
Just to assuage my curiosity, from which Humphries-McCraw connection are descended? As you are probably aware, Joy (Humphries) AuBuchon was instrumental in keeping me on track finishing the third editon after my mentor and co-author Mary Mac Harland died.
Best wishes, Carol J. McCraw
