Jerry: I had to laugh at the stories you wrote. They have to be true as I have heard similar stories. Bertha’s mother Fidelia was a big woman about 6’ tall. The Carsons were apparently a rough bunch. They story I got was that the Carson’s would stand on either side of a fence, argue, and cut each other with knives till their boots were full of blood. Fidelia married and Elliot Hackney, who was murdered by Adam Jenkins ( who she later married) Tom’s grandmother was Eliza Jane Leatherman (born 1850 – died Nov 28, 1936) her father was Adam Leatherman ( born abt. 1818- diedOct. 1, 1918 – died in Henry County Kentucky, buried in Timble County, Ky. on the Leatherman plot) I have no idea who Eliza’s mother was, or where her parents were born. Tom’s father was named William. That is all I have been able to uncover concerning that line. My father says that your grandpa Harold hated Patton. *laugh* He married a German woman named Henrietta Peters, but could not pronounce Henrietta in the German dialect so he called he “Mary” Whether this is true I have not a clue. I had heard tell that grandpa Raymond was a good mechanic. I do know that he was an awesome stone mason. I was not sure if he served in WWII or not. I just saw a picture of him in uniform. The woman he lived with was named Ethel, not Shirley. One his death bed he wanted my grandmother Mae ( her first name Francis) to come and see him, but she would not. I honestly believe everything you have told me about they family. If you care to correspond more email me at:firstname.lastname@example.org I have tons of questions for you.
