Dear Mr. Chisholm,
Thank you for your very interesting comments re Alexander McDonell, son of John Bui[not of Spanish John].These Cameron/McDonell families of Stormont/Glengarry[and other Gaelic families]interrelationships can be very confusing for many genealogists.Duncan was a very fine gentleman and I was shocked to hear of his passing, but, unfortunately, many errors have been made in his 'booklets'.One other example re a mixup is the genealogy of Angus McDonell of Sandaig [Lot 8, Conc. 8 Charlottenburg]whose familyis often confused with Angus McDonell of Greenfield who settled on Lot 5, Concession 9, Charlottenburg. The socalled John McDonell of Sandaig[of Greenfield family]died c 1725, and, therefore, could not have been the father of Angus of Sandaig who was the leader of the Knoidart emigration c 1786[an error which is continuously repeated].
Again, thank you for your comments.
Sincerely,
Margaret Cameron,
Long Sault
