McElrath info
There is an "AIKMAN" family Bible which was given to Alexander Aikman in 1736 by his brother, John, who is my 7th great-grandfather. The Bible was in the hands of Mrs. Mary Catherine Miller of Washington DC when she died in 1929. Since then it has been lost. The Bible listed the children of Alexander's daughter, Isabella Aikman, and her husband, SAMUEL McELRATH as:

Sam McElrath was First Elder of the Hilltop Pres. Church of Mendham, Morris Co., NJ when Isabella married him. He was born in Scotland on 25 December 1718, the son of Thomas McElrath. The family came to Bridgewater Twshp., Somerset Co., NJ.Sam was a rather prosperous farmer in the Mendham area and was a highly respected citizen. Sam McElrath died 9 August 1804 in Mendham and is buried in the Hilltop Presbyterian Church cemetery there.
I am not a McElrath descendant but I am an AIKMAN descendant, thus my knowledge of this family. Hope this helps someone.
