According to the information I have, both of my great-grandparents McElrath are buried in the Wise cemetery (sometimes called the Old Wise cemetery), although I have a hand-written note from someone whose authorship I have forgotten (an aunt, I think) who says they were were buried in a "Myrtle" grave yard. For some reason, I wrote in "Pertle" (?).I have forgotten the reason why I did that, but it probably has to do with my attempt to find a Myrtle grave yard in the Greene County list of cemeteries.I have not been to the Wise cemetery near Peach Orchard or Delaplaine to search for their graves. The uncle who would know for sure died last month (R. V. "Buster" Taylor), but he had been a paralytic and unable to speak for over 30 years. My mother, Pauline (Taylor) Dearin, knows very little about the McElrath side of the family, although she remembers Zelma very well.My mother and her five sisters thought Zelma was one of their sisters until she left the household suddenly. It was a great shock that Mom still talks about.
Mom remembers hearing about Luther but no more uncles or aunts. My handwritten note says other siblings of Pearl (my grandmother) include an Ellen, who died giving birth to a girl named Imogene, an unnamed brother who served in Europe in World War I and another brother who "went AWOL and came to Illinois and was never heard of again."I suspect the person who wrote this note to me was my aunt Monzell (Taylor) Logsdon Clifton, who died a few years ago.Her son Donald is interested in genealogy and lives near Litchfield, Illinois. His e-mal address is [email protected] let me know if you find more.
