Alexander, the oldest child of John and Catharine (Shannon) McElravy was b. August 6, 1825. He and wife Sarah had no children of their own although they did have young people living with them from time to time. It has been documented that Sarah was an invalid and the younger people may have been her aides. Alexander was a miner by trade.
Somewhat remarkable that he died the day after his 76th birthday which happened to be the 75th birthday of his wife, Sarah, who died December 12, 1908. Both are buried at Myers-Patton Cemetery in E. Franklin_ Armstrong County.
Pretty sure the connection you're looking for is through the 3rd born son of John and Catherine (Shannon) McElravy, Alexander's brother, David McElravy_ b. October 6, 1829.
David was a farmer and at one time was the Postmaster at Duncansville. He and his wife, Anna E lived near Widnoon and Nichola in Manor Twp.They had 7 children. Earlier they are documented in Pine Twp., however the township lines moved frequently with population growth.
David McElravy is also my GG grandfather through his daughter Anna Elizabeth b. March 27, 1865. David is also the father of your Benjamin b. March 1859 who was married to Mary Melinda Gould.
The 1900 PA Census reveals that Benjamin and Mary Melinda had 13 children_ 11 survived. Earliest showing of Benjamin's household is 1880 Census in Armstrong County with wife and daughter Maude May b. May 3, 1879.
They are recorded in Fairview Twp, Butler County for following Census years 1900, 1910 and 1920. It is assumed both died before 1930 as there is no record of them in Fairview, nor is there information that either or/both are living with their adult children in 1930.
