Your assumptions sound reasonable and what we need now is a will for Thomas McFann (d.Dec 16, 1817 in Pittsburgh) or Widdow McFann, listed with John McFann in the 1830 census for Fallowfield Twp, Crawford Co., PA, aged 60-70 in order to tie this all together.

Just for the record, though, you are assuming that the parents of Martha are Thomas and Mary McFann, based on the fact that two of her children are named Thomas McFann Chambers and Mary McFann Chambers.Since these are the only McFanns in Allegany County, your assumption is probably correct and just needs to be verified.
