Hugh McGavock Early 1800's

I am a McGavock descendant. There are a couple of books on this family: "The McGavock Family" by Gray and "Pen and Sword" by Gower and Allen. There was a Hugh (1796-1880) that 'removed to Kentucky and thence to Indiana'.He died at Punento, Vigo County, Indiana. This Hugh was a son of Hugh (1761-1844) who was a son of James McGavock the immigrant from County Antrim, Ireland. However your date of circa 1805 would have been a little early for Hugh born 1796.
There are 13 Allens listed in the index of Gray's genealogy book but did not find a Jim or James. There were not nearly so many people back then and many families intermarried.
Seems Kentucky is still making lots of whiskey!
