Re: McGuinness family, Richmond N. Yokshire
I think it is possible that Thomas was of James'family. My Thomas came from Co.Antrim or Co.Armagh(family split on which county is correct!)He would almost certainly have landed in Liverpool. On his wedding certificate he is given as a hawker, so would have been travelling around a fair bit.His father is given as Edward Maginis, a basket-maker, deceased. Thomas married Margaret Bollands in Northallerton in 1844. He had at least one brother, Bernard, but that doesn't mean he didn't have another one - James.I don't think the spelling of Maginis is significant, as my Thomas was, at this stage anyway, illiterate (cross on cert. not signature). The dates fit for them to be brothers, I haven't a birth date for Thomas, but his wife was born in 1818.Do you know any more about who was visited in Richmond, as I had many relations there?Incidentally, are your McGuinnesses Catholic or Protestant? Mine are Catholic, although Thomas and Margaret married in an Anglican church - not a sectarian questions, I'm just interested!Let me know if you think this lot fits!
